Dave LohseDave Lohse
is our Speaker

Join us as Dave Lohse, the Associate Athletic Communications Director at the University of North Carolina, speaks about the issue of gay visibility in the world of professional, collegiate, and Olympic sports. While Dave began his tenure at UNC in 1977, it wasn't until 1992 that he came out publicly - clearly an uncommonly brave thing for him to do at the time, but something that still happens all too rarely.

Dave will speak to us about how the arenas of sports and Hollywood continue to be bastions of closeted gays and lesbians, and he'll share his insights on why, unlike the rapid progress we are seeing in other areas of gay equality, he does not believe it will change anytime in the near future.

Tracy HollisterTracy Hollister
is our Speaker

In the last three years, local LGBT activist Tracy Hollister resigned from her research job to fight for the cause of marriage equality: as a leader against Amendment One here in NC, as a field manager for campaigns in five other states, through the implementation of national storytelling and education programs, and currently by conducting interviews abroad - all the while engaging in curious and respectful dialogue with those on the “other side.” Why does she do what she does?

Come hear Tracy speak at this month’s RBPN dinner about her journey, about what motivates her to do this work, and about how we all can come together to ensure that these gains are not lost.
